Although we hate being smug here at Kantara House* (*lies, we love being smug), we more than definitely boast the most elegant wedding venue in all the land. And whilst we despise the phrase “One-Stop-Shop” – it is a true reflection of what we are. When you step foot onto our hallowed ground, there is no reason to leave. From onsite accommodation for the bride and her bridesmaids to shimmy into their Bridal Beauty the morning of the Big Day (including dinner the night before and brunch platters that morning, natch), to the ceremony, photographs, canapes, cocktails, reception and accommodation the Night Following the Big Day: oh my! We even offer a recovery brunch the morning after because our weddings are That Good you need to recover from them. Seriously though, something we never joke about at Kantara House is our (sometimes scary) devotion to all our clients. Our genuine and non-sarcastic interest in every intricate detail of your day will ensure it goes off without a hitch (aside from the getting hitched part, obviously).
Cue our cheesy PR tagline: “At Kantara House, your Wedding World is waiting”
The Charlotte Chapel’s fame and huge number of devotees often has Kantara House itself asking “what about moi?”. The Charlotte Chapel is truly the jewel in Kantara House’s crown and definitely the Most Beautiful Wedding Chapel ever. Its enormous gothic-inspired doors are the perfect frame for every beautiful bride and we guarantee tears from your groom upon your arrival.
Searching for your something old? We’ve also got that covered – the Charlotte Chapel is home to Australia’s oldest ringing bell that comes with its very own bell ringer. Cast in 1550 in Somerset in the United Kingdom, we lovingly transported all 260kg of the bell to her final resting place in the Charlotte Chapel. If you can drag yourself away from the bell, it’s a fact that beauty is on the inside and this could not be more true about our chapel. You’ll fall in love with its bevelled glass windows and gorgeous hanging chandeliers quicker than you can imagine Gosling saying to you “Hey Gurrrrrrrrl”.
If the Charlotte Chapel isn’t your thing and you’re more wild and free, our outdoor ceremony options have all the feels. Set on 4.5 acres of natural rainforest, the rainforest-canopy-sky is the limit for outdoor ceremonies, including our formal outdoor rotunda. And in case of inclement weather, our Green Chapel has your back. Covered by a ginormous water proof sail, the Green Chapel provides you with wet weather protection without feeling like you’re indoors and, MOST importantly, it’s located next to our outdoor bar. Convenient. One last thing on our outdoor ceremonies – we hate being stingy and for this reason, we have thousands of pretty outdoor chairs for your ceremony. Ok, not thousands, but a lot.
Rumour has it, the Tara homestead from Gone with the Wind was modelled closely on Kantara House’s architectural style. No, but seriously, Kantara House embodies the antebellum grandeur of the architectural style found in the deep south and is second to none.
If you can drag yourself away from the House’s grand entrance with its picture framing pillars – we can’t – the Ashley Philip room (our reception area) awaits you. With the choice of round or long tables and spunky tiffany chairs, there is very little for the oh-so-busy bride to bother herself with. Lovingly named after the Reid family’s patriarch, the Ashley Philip room is elegant in its simplicity and requires very little tarting-up (unless tarting-up is your thing, which we’re more than happy to accommodate). The gorgeous timber French doors that flank the Ashley Philip room are the perfect conduit to our huuuuge outdoor deck.
Overall, we’d have to say that Kantara House’s reception area is Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
Attention brides (and the occasional groom): our Wedding Suite is amaaaazing. Designed for the bride and her bridesmaids the night before the wedding (to watch Father of the Bride whilst eating cheese and drinking wine, obv), as well as the happy couple the night of the wedding, the Wedding Suite is the cherry on the Kantara House cake. The Wedding Suite’s most appealing feature – aside from the gigantic bathtub – is the calming influence it has on our brides. Imagine waking up at your wedding venue and luxuriating in a day of bridal bliss (read: massages, nails, make-up and hair) before tottering over to your ceremony. Pictures don’t really do the Wedding Suite justice, a visit is a must.
